In 2018, he decided to start a side hustle to address this problem. It wasn't until Marnus Broodryk, an entrepreneur and Shark Tank SA investor, tried out Fran's video interview software in his own accounting firm that he saw the potential for Wamly to help thousands of companies around the world.
Marnus joined Francois on the Wamly journey in 2020, challenging the traditional recruitment process and utilising the latest technology to help companies save time and money while finding the right candidates.
The Wamly Journey
Founded in 2018, Wamly started as a side hustle for Francois de Wet. However, with Marnus Broodryk on board, the working MVP was launched in August 2020. The software was quickly adopted by several companies, including Momentum, DigiCall, and CLS, proving the MVP's success. This led to a complete redevelopment with AWS at the core, and the new app was launched in January 2021.
Wamly's success continued in 2021, with over 200 happy clients added to their impressive portfolio of users, and 10 additional team members employed. The software also reached 23 countries and hit its 2022 MMR target with two months to spare. Francois de Wet took over as CEO, and Wamly launched its Podcast.
In 2022, Wamly continued to exceed expectations with over 10,000 demos and no clients choosing a competitor due to missing features. It's an impressive achievement for a company that has only been around for two years.
