The Senior Manager: Planning is responsible to produce Services’ SETA strategic plans through the coordination of development of the SSP, SP, and APP that will lead the achievement of mandate. This role incorporates planning, development, implementation, and management. The function is responsible for building strategic management capability in core business functions and operations of Services’ SETA.
Ensure SSETA strategy development and implementation
• Ensure the development of strategy management policies and procedures
• Ensure a continuous identification of strategic corporate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
• Lead the development of corporate strategy
• Lead the cascading of strategy into all business divisions
• Provide an ongoing management and development of strategy analysis
• Supports the development and management of bench-marking efforts and client insights in support of strategic planning projects
• Lead the research, analysis, development of conclusions and presentation of findings to the CEO and executive management for discussion
• Lead the development of a SSETA SSP document
• Lead the development of strategic plan
• Lead the develop Annual performance plans

Alignment of business plans to SSETA strategic objectives
• Lead the development of corporate business plans
• Lead the cascading of corporate business plan into other clusters
• Ensure the translation of corporate strategy initiatives into programmes

Build SSETA strategic management capability
• Ensure the availability and development of strategy management curriculum
• Ensure the development a training schedule
• Ensure strategy management training interventions are conducted
• Ensure the management of training service providers
• Ensure that training reports are produced
• Ensure the evaluation of the impact of training
• Ensure the provision of resources and support to other business units for strategy management

Achievement and management of the Department’s business plans
• Contribute to the development of the APP and SP
• Develop operational plans for the Department
• Ensure the implementation and compliance to reporting templates and frameworks
• Ensure monthly reporting in the Department
• Manage variances in actual vs. budget expenditure in all areas of accountability
• Develop risk management strategies and risk register for the Department
• Develop polices, and procedures for the Department
• Ensure clean, audit results
• Handle audit queries and ensure the availability of information for audit purposes
• Manage and monitor budget in the Department

People management
• Conduct timeous recruitment and selection of staff
• Implement SSETA’s BEE targets in the Department
• Implement SSETA’s performance management in the Department
• Induct and orientate direct reports
• Provide capacity building, through training, coaching and development of direct reports
• Ensure that employees have clear work expectations and goals,
• Ensure attendance of staff
• Manage the disciplinary of employees in the Department
