Manager: Software Development (FTC 10-12 Months) - Avis Budget Rental & Leasing Isando
Core purpose of the role To effectively and efficiently manage software development departments resulting in quality business solutions that address real needs as opposed to perceived needs. Key Deliverables and Outputs1.Strategic/FinancialNew Technology DevelopmentEnsure that self and team keep abreast of latest technology developmentsAlign development with IT group strategy and business requirementsOrganise and facilitate new business JAD workshops as requiredIdentify RisksIdentify and manage risks timeouslyManage risk mitigation and escalate to Chief Information Officer where needed2.OperationalMonitor Task ProgressCompile resource schedule and ensure quality and deadlines achieved in conjunction with project management officeAction and resolve escalated tasksEnsure dashboard is updated dailyDocumentation and standardsEnsure compilation of accurate technical specification documents from functional specificationsEnsure risk and issue list is managed and maintainedEnsure documentation standards are maintained at all timesEnsure that application development documentation are produced and standards maintainedEnsure that architectural standards are enforced at all timesQuality Assurance Ensure team complete design and code review (e.g. projects and system development)Ensure that team develop applications that deliver measurable business value to customersEnsure units are tested in accordance with quality assurance guidelinesEnsure all completed tasks are handed over to UAT3.Stakeholders (internal & external customers, suppliers, shareholders, communities) Build and maintain effective relationships with business, group companies and suppliersAttend all team meetings and daily huddlesAttend project meetings monthly Attend change control meetings as requiredAttend AIT strategy session quarterly 4.Employees Provide clear direction and decisive leadership to direct reports, ensuring all are aligned to the goals and have a clear purpose. Set clearly defined performance standards / targets for direct reports, holding them accountable to achieve these and providing support and guidance where needed. Create and maintain a constructive atmosphere within the team, engaging and motivating direct reports to always give their best, while respecting any areas of diversity (whether areas of expertise, cultural, gender, age, background, etc.) Ensure direct reports adhere to set business policies and procedures, emphasising the importance of general discipline at work and objectively correcting and handling any deviations as they arise. Resource and staff the team appropriately, considering the relevance of current and new jobs as well as the most suitable ways in which to place or replace any vacancies. Set the example to the team and deliver on the employee value proposition by leading the team and the business in line with the Barloworld Leadership Competency Framework.
