Core purpose of the role:The core purpose of the role is to execute the business plans of the Global Solutions business for the ocean freight product in accordance with company policies, goals and strategic objectives & plans. The incumbent is responsible for achieving the agreed growth and profitability objectives, operational performance, warehouse performance, financial performance and SHERQ related accountabilities. Key deliverables and outputs:1.Operational performance:a.Execute operational plans for the operational team to ensure that the ocean freight department attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible (cascade to team and monitor progress).b.Understand and align to customers long term strategies through operational and warehouse meetingsc.Managing proper implementation plans and processes for take on of clients.2.Financial management and profitability:a.Manage financial performance and reporting for the Ocean Freight product. b.Working with Sales and Customer Retentions to ensure that clients are taken on and maintained at profitable rates.c.Provide high level inputs into the annual budget and subsequently monitor to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and that fixed costs are minimisedd.Maintain effective financial controls.3.Customer centricity (internal and external):a.Maintain effective formal and informal links with major customer stakeholders to cement sustainable relationships and ensure contractual KPIs are met.b.Maintain effective formal and informal links with relevant SARS departments and ensure compliance KPIs are met.c.Ensure optimal use of operational IT platforms. 4.SHEQ, Risk, Ethics and Compliance:a.Comply with ethics, risk, governance in line with legislation, company policies & procedures, relevant regulations and Barloworld standards.b.Implement operational protocols and controls to manage consumables.c.Implement warehouse protocols and controls to manage cargo and equipment.d.Facilitate all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures to create a safe workplace for all and meet legislative requirements. 5.Employee Performance Management:a.Manage workforce planning of the team in line with the operational and warehouse requirementsb.Implement the company transformation and sustainability policy and strategy in all aspects of diversity and inclusionc.Manage the performance and development of team members.d.Drive a climate and culture of high performance and employee engagement, in line with Barloworlds employee value proposition.
