Core purpose of the role: The purpose of the role is to effectively manage transport planning activities, people and suppliers to ensure high service levels, cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction. Therefore ensuring that the KPI targets are met, corporate governance and statutory compliance standards are adhered to. Key deliverables and outputs: 1. Daily Planning / Control & additional business opportunities a. Planning Ensure that all Carriers appointed to perform the transportation activities meet the predetermined SLA. b. Plan according to capacity or amend plans, where necessary, in consultation with Loading Facilities and ensure that Plans are achievable. c. Ensure all loads have order numbers. d. POD management as per SLA crucial that all deliveries have a signed POD as per site requirements. e. Reconcile Plans to Actual to ensure Planning Accuracy. f. Review daily the previous days performance execution against plan and fix any deviation. g. Build relationships and capture additional business that is outside the contracted work. h. Plan respective Fleet assets for servicingi. Manage sub-contractors and issuing of POs daily2. Internal Processes a. Ensure that On Time delivery are achievable. Evaluate results and implement corrective action where necessary. b. Achieve all contractual KPI targets. c. Conduct an audit on identified queries to ensure that all are resolved timeously. d. Ensure Effective Carrier Management Process. e. Ensure operational support in attending daily shift hand-overs3. Customer Service a. Achieve the best service levels possible. b. Ensure constant communication to the client, client customers and Fleet Controllersc. Ensure adherence to budgets all the time. 4. Customer Relations a. Foster good relations with customers by being proactive and providing regular and accurate feedback. b. Attend to Customer queries timeously. c. Report weekly on new potential business opportunities5. Reporting a. Submit all Management reports timeously. b. Report and analyze transport activities. 7. Leadership a. Manage and develop performance and talent of the team in line with companys Integrated Employee Value philosophy. b. Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation through developing a hands-on understanding of Business Unit and Functional Department needs and requirements.
