Sep 3 is South Africas biggest independent, free-to-air television channel.With over 16 million viewers, appeals to all races, ages and income groups and is the most viewed English language channel in the country.We are the destination of choice for local and international entertainment, a place where viewers can come together to set their imaginations free. The incumbent would be required to drive the output of open news. To provide guidance on all content produced for the bulletin. To manage, train and mentor the Assistant Programme Editors, Producers and Guest Booker. To ensure that the output is free of errors and meets the open news vision. To work in conjunction with the Technical Director to ensure that the broadcast is smooth, pacy and reflects the days stories. To manage breaking news. To contribute toward the channels budget and provide input with strategy.Reporting to the Managing Director, the key performance areas include but are not limited to: 1.Editorial Leadership-Leading the pre and post production meetings. -Creating compelling programming for the channel. -Create unique content. -Requesting show specific content. -Creating straps and on-air information. -Continuously driving improvements to the programme to improve audience ratings.-Delivering a high quality of editorial output and on-air discussion that is engaging.-Demonstrating creativity of programme creation and editorial approach.-Managing the quality of on-air content holistically.-Ensuring that all content is meticulously subbed to prevent errors. 2.Broadcast-Taking the broadcast to air.-Having a thorough understanding of the systems required to take a bulletin to air.-Making the final editorial decisions while in the control room.-Changing the format of the show to deal with breaking news or other news events.-Guiding the anchors on interviews.3.Staff Management -Motivating team to achieve organisation objectives. -Instilling a culture of creativity. -Planning for and conducting interviews for replacement personnel as and when required in conjunction with HR. -Coaching and mentoring of team to promote international quality of broadcasting.-Conducting ongoing formal team appraisals and feedback.-Leave management4.StrategyProviding input in the channels overall strategy.Making suggestions with regards to the companys annual budget.Meeting with internal and external stakeholders to drive the companys objectives.
