The role holder is responsible to oversee, manage and assist across the end-to-end value chain of the Finance function in support of all business units within the Group. These functions include, but may not be limited to; Reinsurance, Financial Operations, Group Reporting, Tax, Financial Governance and Controls, and any Finance related Projects. The role will function across different legal entities and counties, as well as cover both General and Life Insurance. Key Tasks & AccountabilitiesFunctional Management This role reports into the CFO and the incumbent will work very closely with, and in support of the office of the CFO.Manage and coordinate Finance-related projects in line with agreed timelines and budgets.Assist with external audits at mid-year and year-end.Support the development and operationalise the Finance strategy in line with business strategy and purpose, regulatory requirements and trends. Provide clarity on the functions key role in supporting the business. Assist with the overall co-ordination of the respective Finance functions. Work closely with the CFO and relevant EXCO Members to facilitate and negotiate Mergers and Acquisitions.Assist in Financial Operations, including Credit Control, Banking and General Ledger matters.Implement, monitor and manage local Governance and Financial Controls in line with Group requirements.Assist with Reinsurance Accounting including system and data requirements.Involvement in the optimisation work to help derive a recommended Reinsurance structure.Responsible towards CFO for supporting Group instructions e.g. for Capital management, Project activities and Tax.Provide tactical and strategic input to operational issues.Identify, manage and mitigate, where possible, the functions operational risks in order to provide financial governance and support to the business. Ensure co-ordination and alignment with other business units and functions.Provide Leadership and strategic direction, assist in building relationships with Underwriting and Sales Force.Support management in developing open and transparent relationships with all relevant stakeholders.Stakeholder Management Stakeholders include:The Board EXCOFunctional Business and Finance HeadsAuditors, both internal and externalProject stakeholdersTax authorityInsurance regulatorBank contactsInvestment contactsDevelop and maintain external networks with key individuals, associations and regulatory authorities in the financial and insurance industry; keep abreast of industry developments and actively monitor trends, so as to anticipate the business impact of regulatory changes, prepare appropriate responses and support the business in defining actions as seen fit. Leadership AccountabilitiesLead a diverse and independent functional team, setting objectives, reviewing performance and participating in selection / promotion decisions to ensure that employees have the necessary skills and understanding to deliver the team's objectives.
