Logistics Manager (Tow-Trucking)
Core purpose of the role The management of the logistics company (SMD Logistics) including, but not limited to Financials (budgeting and performance), Sales, Marketing, Customer Care, contracts as well as tenders, manage staff as well as own fleet and contractors. Responsible for all reporting requirements (financial and operational) to all stakeholders of the Company. Key deliverables and outputsFinanceFinancial budgetsFinancial performanceFinancial reportingFinancial controlsOperationsThe presentation and explanation of operational reports including capacity utilisation and individual truck and contractor performance.Ensuring adherence to all contractual obligations by maintaining and improving the SMD service offering, according to average Turn Around Times (TAT) and individual instancesManaging overheads to be within budgeted plans for the Financial yearProjects and PlansBe responsible for the successful roll-out and monitoring of the B-BBEE initiatives impacting the SMD Logistics divisionImplementation and change management of the projectsExecute the role, responsibilities and duties as a member of the project team taskedOperational processesEnsuring that business processes in area of responsibility are optimisedEnsure all processes are followed at all timesImprove processes where needed External customersExpand and grow external businessEnsure that all employees are trained and aligned to support and enhance customer service processes and initiative Internal customersCreate and maintain exceptional service delivery to all stakeholders, in matters relating to suppliersSuppliers (Mutually beneficial relationships) Ensuring the successful on-boarding of all new suppliers Leveraging from the existing supplier base to increase the SMD market shareEnsure effective and seamless operations between SMD and the vehicle holder to improve turnaround times and effectiveness through the establishment of good relationshipsPeople ManagementProvide clear direction and decisive leadership of staff, ensuring all are aligned to the goals and have a clear purposeSet clear defined performance standards/targets for staffCreate and maintain a constructive atmosphere within the team, engaging and motivating them Ensure that staff adhere to set business policies and procedures, emphasising the importance of general discipline at work Ensure that the SMD value system is communicated
