The role holder will be responsible to assist in managing, directing and controlling the Bryte Life Financial reporting and financial operations Department in line with Bryte Life and regulatory requirements. The provision of timely and accurate management performance and budgetary reporting as well as business insights to the Bryte Life Leadership Team and to Bryte Africa Group leadership team Key Tasks & Accountabilities Effective management of the monthly Finance operational procedures, includingCredit controlBank ReconsAccounts payableFixed asset managementReinsurance payments or recoveriesDeferred Acquisition cost calculationBinder & Commission paymentsSystem balancing. Production to ledgers to sub ledgers.Assist with the planning.Completion of regulatory returns.Interaction with customers.Analysis of results and data.Etc.Assist where required with management of half-year and annual financial statements, including liaising with internal and external audit:Assist where required with statutory reporting and compliance Assist with effective management of internal control environment: Investigate and implement effective internal controls to ensure complianceAssess audit reports to identify areas of improvement and provide recommendations for corrective actionIdentify internal loopholes and liaise with forensics and risk to ensure resolution.Assist with effective monthly and quarterly group reporting:Review, consolidate and forward group reports and subsidiary companies to Bryte Africa GroupDraw up monthly timelines to ensure deliverables are met by relevant partiesEnsure compliance to the Bryte Way of Finance Assist with effective management of adhoc financial projectsEffective management of financial systems:Ensure reports meet business requirements through liaison with managersEnsure checking interfaces from subsidiary reportsIdentify and recommend strategic initiatives to convert financial data into business insight Effective people management and team leadership:Lead by example in living the values of BryteBe an active part of corrective action to ensure those correcting fully understand errors and consequencesCreate an environment that fosters teamwork and co-operation amongst team membersCreate awareness of Bryte strategic objectives and their alignment to the department and company objectivesCommunicate effectively, building and maintaining relationships Ensure consistent compliance to company policies and procedures, corporate governance and relevant legislationRelationshipsInternal / External Underwriting and Sales, Policy Administration, Brokers, Clients Internal and External auditors
