Work DescriptionThe Laboratory Technologist is responsible for maintaining Laboratory Systems and conducting Laboratory Procedures for Research Studies. The incumbent will regularly perform work at a higher level of expertise in carrying out difficult, advanced or complex testing and is required to train other Technical Personnel .YOUR DUTIES WILL BE:Liaising with Stakeholders:Liaise with all Stakeholders when necessary towards the achievement of Organizational and Departmental GoalsLaboratory Systems and Procedures:Ensuring proper Infection Control by following laid down Procedures in the handling, processing, testing and storage of Specimens Receive, process and test specimens according to laid down procedures .Ensure that Results are transmitted timeouslyCalibrate, standardise and maintain Instruments according to Manufacturer ProceduresPerforming Quality Control to ensure proper functioning of Instruments, Reagents and ProceduresRecognise Instrument malfunctions and out of control Test Results and take corrective actionPreparing Reagents and Control according to prescribed ProceduresShipping of specimens in accordance with laid down procedures General Administration:Compiling of Laboratory StatisticsOrdering of Laboratory StockChecking of outstanding ResultsMaintaining inventory of Laboratory EquipmentValidating and reporting Results of Tests performedChecking and reviewing of Results produced by the LaboratoryChecking and reviewing of Results from Outsourced Laboratories handing them to the ClinicResponsible for preparation of Laboratory AuditsHuman Capital Management:Participate in proactive Team efforts to achieve Departmental and Company GoalsCompany Strategic Intent:Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures according to prescribed Procedures and LegislationReport all unsafe activities to Senior Management/Human ResourcesAdhere and maintain Decision making authority as allocated to the position
