In delivering social science that makes a difference, the Research Programmes of the Human Sciences Research Council initiate and undertake policy-oriented research projects and programmes from its offices in Cape Town, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria. Its public-purpose mandate is set out in the Human Sciences Research Council Act of 2008.The Centre for Community Based Research (CCBR) exists within the Division of Human and Social Capabilities (HSC). The mission of the CCBR is to understand, identify and improve community wellbeing by exploring, describing and addressing health, education, and quality of life through novel mixed-methods approaches that combines multidisciplinary capacities, and to serve as a hub for knowledge generation, capacity building and training.Through engagement and advocacy for community-informed approaches, the CCBR is a champion for this work within the Division and across the HSRC. The CCBR currently have staff in both Durban and Pietermaritzburg with plans to grow activities and capacity beyond the borders of the Sweetwaters.The CCBR seeks to appoint suitably qualified persons to take on the responsibilities of an Outreach/ Retention Officer for a project implemented at the Sweetwaters office. The successful candidate will work in a multi-year research project for HIV PrEP drug registration study. Outreach Retention Officer will ensure all women who are currently in care are retained in PrEP The Outreach Retention Officer will report to the study coordinator and site principal investigator. This position is offered on a 12-month contract.AdvertOutreach/Retention OfficersOffice base: Sweetwaters, PietermaritzburgReference:HSCRO2021 Work with study coordinator to prevent attrition among PrEP patients by daily compiling of missed appointment lists in collaboration with the data technician.Plan activities for timely (daily) tracking of missed appointmentIdentify challenges so that they are addressed on timeDevelop retention strategy to keep participants interestedWork to complete the retention documentation in all registersWork with study coordinator to develop work schedules and performance enhancement interventions for Adherence and Retention Follow all contacts as per provided list so that they come to the clinic for repeats and follow-ups; follow up. Carrying out any other activities deemed necessary for the effective and productive functioning of the study.Additional Responsibilities:Develop community mobilization plan and strategiesCreate and maintain relationships with community stakeholders i.e. traditional structures, political structures, social networks, etc.Organizing meetings, events, and seeking out opportunities to make our organizations presence known.Developing and executing annual community outreach plans in line with the Centres objectives.Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
