In delivering Social Science that makes a difference, the Research Programmes of the Human Sciences Research Council initiate and undertake policy-oriented research projects and programmes from its offices in Cape Town, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Port Elizabeth, and Pretoria. Its public-purpose mandate is set out in the Human Sciences Research Council Act of 2008.The Centre for Community Based Research (CCBR) exists within the Division of Human and Social Capabilities. The mission of the CCBR is to understand, identify and improve community wellbeing by exploring, describing, and addressing health, education, and quality of life through novel mixed methods approaches that combines multidisciplinary capacities, and to serve as a hub for knowledge generation, capacity building and training. Through engagement and advocacy for community-informed approaches, the CCBR is a champion for this work within the Division and across the HSRC. The CCBR currently have staff in both Durban and Pietermaritzburg with plans to grow activities and capacity beyond the borders of the Sweetwaters. The CCBR is seeking a clinical services manager who will be responsible for the ensuring the clinical services supporting biomedical studies at the Sweetwaters office are provided at the appropriate standard. The successful candidate will provide appropriate clinical facilities support for clinical infrastructure and resources needed for the successful implementation of projects underway at the Sweetwaters office of the HSRC. Ensure the maintenance on clinical equipment and machinery is executed within prescribed budgetary and statutory requirements. Ensure maintenance of clinical standards of the CCBR are maintained, with little or no inconvenience to staffCarry out daily routine and procedural checkAttend pro-actively to problems and issuesMaintenance and restocking of relevant clinical and site equipment and supplies.Manage maintenance and provide oversight of the vehicle fleetManage all services performed by contractors on siteInspect clinical buildings and patient areas to ensure the CCBR site is compliant with OHSA rules and regulations.
